Michelle and Esmond's love story began exactly 4 years, 9 months, and 9 days before their wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico. They share a mutual friend who recommended them to each other. However they were never introduced in person so like any modern love story their journey started on Instagram. For six months, Esmond persistently messaged Michelle, reacting to her stories with fire and heart emojis. Michelle would answer his messages infrequently and was hesitant to go on a date with Esmond even after asking a few times over Instagram. But fate had already intertwined their lives even before this introduction. Michelle had once captured Esmond in the background of a video during one of her girls' nights out 6 months prior to the introduction from their mutual friend. When looking back at her photos one day she realized this was Esmond and decided to reply to his Instagram messages and ask if it was him. Shortly after she agreed to go on a first date with him. Their first date was at a Japanese izakaya in the heart of Manhattan in December 2019.
